Welcome to Our Wedding Weekend Website!

Dear Family and Friends,

Colorado holds a very special place in our hearts.

From Grace’s early years of skiing, hiking and fishing to the many trips and adventures here with Alex, the Rocky Mountains have been a backdrop for countless formative and special memories. Therefore, it fills us with great excitement to host our wedding ceremony at the heart of this serene and symbolic setting: underneath "The Big Tree" alongside the Eagle River on Grace’s family horse ranch.

While the Ceremony (Aug 3) and Welcome Party (Aug 2) are very important to us, we also want to ensure that our guests enjoy a full weekend with ample opportunities to explore the magestic Vail Valley. In addition to all the natural beauty and sights, there are numerous restaurants, bars, shops, and countless outdoor activities in Eagle, Edwards, Beaver Creek, and Vail, so we have provided some information about the many things to do while you are here throughout our website. This includes information to find all the details you might need about where you’re going, how to get there, and what’s on the itinerary.

We hope you find the mountains here as awe-inspiring as we do, and we look forward to you joining us for a celebration together with a fun ranch weekend!

Thank you for your love and support,

Grace + Alex

Western Bash at 4 Eagle Ranch

We are hosting a Welcome Party that is open to all of our wonderful guests to come celebrate with the bride and groom in a fun informal style at 4 Eagle Ranch the night before our ceremony. Have a drink or two and some appetizers while you mingle with friends new and old. Get ready to kick off the wedding festivities with a bang as our drink-slinging donkeys greet you with boozy cocktails and ice-cold pints. Then step right up and get ready for some serious cowboy antics. From conquering the mechanical bull to dominating the corn hole and cowboy beer pong tables, there's no shortage of thrills and spills to capture and participate in! And for those feeling particularly daring, test your skills at mechanical calf roping and axe throwing —because why not add a little extra thrill to the mix? There's a musical surprise in store with our friends, Tim and Taylor, the talented country music duo, who are poised to take the stage and ignite the dance floor with their toe-tapping tunes. So grab your boots and your best cowboy hat, because tonight, we're celebrating love in true Colorado Western style!

Grace and Alex's Wedding Day Celebration

Saturday, August 3, 2024
5:00 PM–12:00 AM
Splitwater Ranch
39.65° N, 106.9° W, Gypsum, CO
Attire: Semi-Formal Elegant Summer Wedding
Inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/angellamerriman/wedding-guest-women/ https://www.pinterest.com/angellamerriman/wedding-guests-men/ Transitioning from the western-themed Welcome Party the night before, our Wedding Ceremony will center on a more formal presentation with traditional semi-formal wedding dress. Our ceremony will be held underneath the large stately cottonwood tree next to the Eagle River on Splitwater Ranch. Rain or shine, we will blend the elegant aspects of a traditional wedding with the outdoor scenery of the river, mountains, and countryside of the property. We are honored to have our ceremony officiated by Grace’s incredible uncle and former hospital chaplain, Trenneth Meyers. Tren will lead us through a reflection, the exchanging of vows, rings, and the commencement of our wedding union. Our wedding and reception will be a fun exploration of the land, the river, and the horse ranch —surrounded by those we love so much and who love us too!

Arrival and Pre Ceremony Drinks by the River

Splitwater Ranch at The Big Tree
We ask you to please be at the ranch no later than 4:40 due to the logistics of getting you to the ceremony site via walking or a golf cart. Please arrive early for light refreshments and to mix and mingle with the other guests before the ceremony begins. We ask you to please not be late and to enter through our personal Splitwater Ranch gates by no later than 4:40 so you have time to park and either walk or be carted to the ceremony site at The Big Tree. The actual Splitwater gates will be temporarily closed from 4:50 to 5:40 as to not have traffic or distractions during the ceremony. Unfortunately, the roadway is in the backdrop of the wedding site and we want to keep it quaint and quiet without vehicles or walkers in the backdrop as well as for the photographs and the video. You might feel a little awkward walking directly into the ceremony as well with all eyes on you too. If for some reason you do arrive late, do not worry, we will not be upset. Valet will direct you to a secondary parking lot at our lovely neighbor's Suzi's home. Depending on how tight to the start - you will either be let through to walk in (8 minute rustic trail walk - not hard just grassy pathway) or held there until the ceremony is completed. Afterwards, you will be let through or driven over in a golf cart. Know that you are so very welcome regardless of your arrival time and incredibly wanted at the ceremony and reception- and we will be there to greet you with open arms once you get let in. We know things can happen and we completely understand, just like we hope you can appreciate our sincere desire to be focused during our vows to each other and not have visual distractions. The walk to the tree from valet is easy and short for most (2-3 minutes tops); however, golf carts can transport guests from the arrival location down to The Big Tree as so needed or desired. Valet parking will be available for those who arrive by car. We are currently looking at limited shuttles for out of town guests from prime locations so please look back at this website for future details and updates

Ceremony

Under The Big Cottonwood Tree alongside the Eagle River
The ceremony is the most important part to us as a couple and we are taking our vows and commitments to each other very thoughtfully and with love. Surrounded by our family and friends, we feel blessed that you have come to celebrate with us and our families. We love the outdoors and we are going to embrace whatever mother natures hands us: rain or shine! We want you to be comfortable so we encourage you to wear appropriate footwear for the stroll you will be taking down to the river for the ceremony on a country field path, along the river on a wood chip path, and through the woods to our Blue River Bar. From there you will walk through a clean cut grassy horse paddock surrounded by our mares and foals to the main reception area. All of the walk is gentle, flat and easy (about 7-10 minutes or less in total with stops and snacks along the way) but there will a variety of natural elements such as grass, small stones, wood chips, dirt roads and paths. Consider flat, closed toed shoes, low block heels depending on your skill might do okay but certainly not high heels on the paths; but feel free to bring your fancy or dancing shoes for a change if you so desire once inside the building. We will have a shoe check for those who bring their special outfit shoes.

Reception

Blue River Bar, The Mane Bar, and the Splitwater Ranch Indoor Arena
Our reception will be a progressive experience with a fun exploration of the land, the river, the horse ranch and the horses themselves —surrounded by those we love and who have loved us back. Guests will be guided along a beautiful short walk to the Blue River Bar, followed by music, cocktails and appetizers in the heart of the horse property at the The Mane Bar. Dinner will be served in the indoor riding arena, where we will have put in a temporary floor for the event for walking and dancing to music by our live band. Bring a layer, sunglasses, and consider two pairs of shoes: one for the walk and one for the party!
